The Toxic Lady
Panic ensued when several hospital workers became ill after exposure to Gloria Ramirez’s body and blood.
By all accounts, Gloria Ramirez was an ordinary woman living an ordinary life. At 31 years old, she was living in Riverside, California with a husband and two children.
According to the US department of health and human services, In 1994, about 1 out of every 100 woman would be diagnosed with cervical cancer. Gloria was a piece of that statistic, and her late stage diagnosis put a toll on her medical condition.
On February 19, 1994, Gloria was rushed to General Hospital, in Riverside CA. She had a rapid heartbeat, and a major drop in blood pressure. Gloria could hardly breathe and attempted answering practitioner’s questions, only for them to find her speech completely incoherent.
The medical personnel went to work quickly trying to bring Glorias vital signs back to normal. The initial procedures and injections were ineffective and the next course of action was to remove her shirt and apply defibrillator electrodes to her chest.
