In February of 2008, 49 year old Charles Peck and Andrea Katz were ready to end the long distance dating game and finally tie the knot on their relationship. Charles was a father of 3 grown children from his first wife and worked for 19 years in the Salt Lake City International Airport as a ramp agent for Delta Airlines. But in this case, that steady work was actually the one last problem standing in the way of his dreams… because Andrea was 720 miles (1160 km) away in Westlake Village, California. Understandably, she didn’t want to wed until they were at least in the same state, so Charles began looking for a new job. And it made sense for him to be the one to move because his own parents and siblings lived in the Los Angeles area too. After 6 months, he was ready to make it all happen and he had a job interview lined up at the Van Nuys Airport for Friday, September 12, 2008. He still went to work that Friday and brought cookies for his coworkers and long-time friends that he’d made after almost 2 decades working together. They wished him luck, sent him off, and called Charles the happiest they’d ever seen as he boarded the flight to his new life.
